Lesson 18!

こんばんは

There wasn't any class last week because sensei couldn't make it. Today, we didn't do much except to go through homework, examples and conversation readings. Yes, we always read everything.

Next week will be lesson 20, the last lesson in our textbook, I can't wait! Finally, we can learn some casual forms!! LOL~ Not that I don't already know~ Watching Anime, TV shows and dramas will definitely help you in learning casual words, lol!

Lesson 17!

Change て-form to た-form.

た-form is the past tense of verbs.

Just throw away the "e" from "te" and put "a" and there you have it!

書いて　»　書いた
無くして　»　無くした
飲んで　»　飲んだ

Uses of た-form ①

I went to Hokkaido when I was a kid, but I don't remember it at all.
子供の頃私は北海道へ行ったことがありますが、全然覚えていません。

Uses of た-form ②

It is better to eat this.
これを食べた方がいいです。

It is better to not eat this.
これを食べない方がいいです。

Uses of た-form ③

I stroll before I eat my meals. I hate to stroll after meals.
ごはんを食べる前に散歩します。ごはんのあとで散歩することがキライです。

Uses of あとで ①

I sleep after I shower.
シャワーを浴びたあとで寝ます。

I don't sleep after meals.
ご飯のあとで寝ません。

Uses of あとで ②

After 3 years, I will go to a Japanese university to study.
３年あとで、私は日本の大学へ勉強に行きます。

辞書形の使い方①

Changing verbs to nouns: Add a こと behind the plain form verb

E.g.： 書きます　»　書く　»　書くこと

①：　漢字を書くことができます。
I can write Kanji.

②：　車の運転ができます。
I can drive a car.

③：　車を運転することができます。
I can drive a car.

Look at their particles.

辞書形の使い方②

デパートでくだものを買うことができます。
You can buy fruits in the departmental store./It is possible to buy fruits at the departmental store.

”まえに”の使い方

テレビを見る前に、洗濯して、部屋を掃除して、日本語を勉強しなければなりません。
Before watching TV, I must wash clothes, clean my room, study Japanese.

①　The ない-form, it's the casual of ありません

②　How to change positive verbs into negative verbs?

--- Replace the "u" line with "a" line
---- く e.g. 行きます　»　行く　»　行かない
---- う e.g. 買います　»　買う　»　買わない
---- る e.g. 帰ります　»　帰る　»　帰らない
---- つ e.g. 持ちます　»　持つ　»　持たない
---- す e.g. 話します　»　話す　»　話さない

-- GroupⅡ：
--- Just add ない
---- E.g. 食べます　»　食べる　»　食べない

-- GroupⅢ：
--- ⅰ 勉強します　»　勉強する　»　勉強しない
--- ⅱ　来ます（きます）　»　来る（くる）　»　来ない（こない）

③　How to use the ない-form? 3 uses
-- Usage 1: +でください。
--- E.g. 心配しないでください。
--- [Please don't worry.]

-- Usage 2: +くてもいいです。
--- Verb e.g. 日本語で話さなくてもいいです。
--- [It's ok to not speak in Japanese./You don't have to speak in Japanese.]

--- い-adj e.g. 頭がよくなくてもいいです。
--- [It's ok to not be smart./You don't have to be smart.]

--- な-adj e.g.　きれいではなくてもいいです。
--- [It's ok to not be pretty./You don't have to be pretty.]

-- Usage 3: +ければなりません。
--- E.g. 帰らなければなりません。
--- [I must go home./In singlish is better: Don't go home, cannot.]

今日は早かったです！クラスは１０時前に終わりました。

Some students still don't know things that they should have already known so 先生はちょっと怒っています。

Lesson 12!

YoZz! We received the JLPT 4 application form today! I'll ask if I can take an off day on Dec 6.. T_T

When changing to て-form to connect 2 or more adjectives [at most 3]

①　い-adjectives
-- e.g. かわいい　＝　かわいくて
Remove the last い and replace with くて

②　な-adjectives
-- Just replace な with で

③　Nouns
-- Just put a で

e.g.1. たなかさんはきれいで、かわいくて、にほんじんです。
e.g.2. たなかさんは日本人で、きれいで、かわいいおんなのこです。

Use the て-form for 2 or 3 actions.

①　明日ごごはちじにうちを出て、友達に会って、いっしょに遊びます。
-- Tomorrow I will leave house at 8pm, meet friend and play together.

②　電気を消してからドアを開けます。
-- I switch off the lights and then I open the door.

Particle for 要ります

①　お金が要りますが、借りません。
-- Okane ga irimasu ga, karimasen.
-- I need money but I will not borrow.
